Ukelele at Mountsmart Stadium

Sup guys! ^ ^
Just got back from the NZ Kiwilele Ukelele Festival.. Well actually I got back and hour ago but anyway.. (I've been practicing guitar for that other hour XD) That's like.. 8 hours of instrumental practice in one day!!! I feel kinda tired lol XD Anyways.. Mount Smart stadium looks so different with a stage and heaps of stalls and picnic blankets on it! I didn't even realize it was Mt Smart until I was up in the stands! XD I got there at 11:30 when Mrs Kearney got there and got the blanket out and stuff then dad went to get an umbrella and we sat around talking for a bit. Me and Helena talked about stuff and y'know.. talked.. and played uke... and talked some more.. and got an INSANELY EXPENSIVE ($3.00) icecream.. and ate 2 chips... and listened to other schools play the winning songs... and then went up to play our song. And yeah.. On Friday we had our last ukelele practice and I really wanted to go in the front cause you know me XD and anyway Mrs Kearney said one girl couldn't go to the performance and that they needed someone to replace her to sing into the mic and she asked if anyone wanted to and no one put their hand up - And I didn't put my hand up! Why on earth didn't I put my hand up! After that Mrs Kearney chose... wait for it.. Omea?! Anyway.. for the rest of lunch I moaned to Helena about it and then y'know pulled myself together (but not like that time with Jessica *shudder* she's never gonna let me forget about that..) So we went on stage and I was in the back row and then magically there was a spare mic for no particular reason and ...... and ... AAAANNNNDDDDD.... Mrs Kearney asked if anyone knew the words without a sheet and I put my hand up!! :D And I got to sing into the mic and play ukelele with heaps of people watching! And I'm super happy now :) I just got kinda lucky :P oh.. and btw for some reason Omea didn't sing in the front... Dunn Dunnnnnnnn.... After that we like... went onto the stands for the kiwilele concert where we played all the songs out of our book - by then only a few people where left cause Helena left straight after we sang 'Another Story' along with a bunch of other people. I sat next to holly and we waited for ages, the concert was running a whole hour late so it was boring - and then I got really thirsty, and in the distance I could see Izzy starting to eat my chips... And I think Holly freaked out for a sec when I broke my lei LOL When we had finally finished all the songs everybody had left except me, this other girl I don't know the name of.. and omea. Seriously, everybody left, the concert had been on for ages though, but why would you practice so hard on it if you weren't going to do the actual performance? Anyway, Mrs Kearney let me keep the lei! Horrah! I can do.. lei-ish stuff! Yeah.. my victory prize.. A string of plastic flowers even though I already broke the other one... XDD I also have this random badge that says 'I played with the ukes'. It's strange cause for some reason there's this group of people I classify as south aucklanders which all talk like niah and are black (I'm not racist! seriously! I'm just saying...) and are really annoying.. always beat boxing and stuff.. urrgh.. there was a group of them next to us along with the dilworth boys who were dressed in their P.E. gear.. with different colours ^ ^ just like vas! Darnit.. I wish it was like that at R.I. then I could have a special colour and every time it was pe I could wear a coloured hair ribbon.. unless I got blue or red.. that would suck.. I want yellow! So yeah... That's what I did all day.. Also...
IN OTHER NEWS...
I'm going to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Movie Part 1 with Jessica tomorroooowww!!!!!!!!
^ ^ yaaayyy!!!!

Nursery rhyme persuasive writing... I DOES IT

so I do a persuasive writing ayup
POSTPOSTPOST - here ya go XDD :D

Everyday thousands of them are read around the globe to children everywhere, but what are we really reading? That’s right I’m talking about nursery rhymes. Have you ever wondered about what these poems we recite so much off by heart actually mean? Did you know that most nursery rhymes originate from historical events such as black plague, slavery, death and injury? Three blind mice being chased by the the farmers wife who wields a carving knife, silver bells and cockle shells in Mary’s garden, a ring of rosies and a pocket full of posies.
These seem to be silly nonsensical verses which are fun and appeal to children but the truth is that many nursery rhymes have a dark side. I’m strongly opposed to nursery rhymes being told to children. What messages are being sent to our kids and siblings?
Here are some of our favourite classic nursery rhymes and the darker meaning behind them, take “Ring around the Rosie’” for example.
“Ring-a-ring-a-roses
A pocket full of posies,
Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down.”
This is supposedly referring to the Great Plague of London in 1665. The rash you would get (“roses”), herbs and spices to “purify” the air (“posies”), and finally sneezing and dying (“we all fall down”). This rhyme is also said to be sang by children during the European Black Death of 1347. The “ring” referring to the red spot that you would have if you had the disease. This ranks 9th place on the “Top ten Nursery Rhymes” national Booktrust list in the UK which surveyed around 2,500 people to find out the nations favourite nursery rhymes.
Another one of our favourite poems gone horribly wrong, “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary” about a little girl who tends to her flower garden decorating it with beautiful silver bells and sea shells? Sounds nice doesn’t it?
But sadly the Mary in this story actually refers to Mary Tudor (Mary I of England) also known as Bloody Mary. Mary was a Catholic and known to have killed many Protestants. England at the time was divided by the two religions.
“Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row”
It’s been said that the garden refers to the growing cemeteries as she kills Protestants. Silver bells and cockle shells were instruments of torture and “pretty maids” were devices used to behead people, just a coincidence perhaps?
She was also said to have inspired the “Three Blind Mice” rhyme about three Protestant bishops that plotted against her. When she discovered this she had them tortured and killed. The bishops were portrayed as the mice in the poem blinded by Mary’s weapons of torture. Luckily these gruesome tales don’t have a rankings on the most popular nursery rhymes list.
How about this.. ever listen to the words of the poem, “Clementine”? This poem is downright sinister even without a hidden meaning.
“Oh my darling, oh my darling,
Oh my darling Clementine,
Thou art lost and gone forever,
Dreadful sorry, Clementine.
Drove the ducklings to the water,
Ev’ry morning just at nine,
Hit her foot against a splinter,
Fell into the foaming brine.
Ruby lips above the water,
Blowing bubbles soft and fine,
But alas, I was no swimmer,
Neither was my Clementine.
In a churchyard near the canyon,
Where the myrtle doth entwine,
There grow some rosies and some posies,
Fertilized by Clementine.”
Now that is just nasty! Flowers fertilized by a dead girl? Are you seriously going to sing this to children? This song or poem is said to be the words of a lover singing about the daughter of a miner in the 1849 California Gold Rush. He loses her when she drowns in a freak accident and in the real version results to Clementine’s little sister except that verse is usually left out of children’s books replaced by something else because it doesn’t seem morally appropriate. Apparently having Clementine’s dead body fertilize the soil around her grave is morally appropriate.
Are you really going to read these horrible poems to your young children and siblings? Practically encouraging them to sing about death and disaster? So... who really killed cock robin? I did mummy! It was fun!

***DRAMA QUEEN***

What's shakin' bacon?! .... Sooooo... >:U I can't stop thinking that no one reads this... I need to tell people to go on it more... o3o . At the moment the internet's crashed so I'm typing this in a text editing programme....
THE ACTUAL POST:
So lately I've been trying to get into drama groups and all that stuff... at R.I. the drama group is called Starburst performers and the year 8's were in terms 1&2 and year 7's terms 3&4. I'm a year 7 so we've been doing auditions lately, I did mine on Friday. It was really scary! I have a phobia of singing in front of people... I don't know why... I mean... they're just people, and everyone said I sang well... I sang the song Naturally by Selena Gomez and after that we had to read a poem called "Wild Ideas" out of a school journal. Afterwards everyone said that I was shaking like crazy and now I'm worried I'm not going to get in... He probably won't let me in because he thinks I have really bad stage fright... which I don't! I don't mind being on stage (in the dark with the lights shining on me...) I don't feel judged or anything... Sort of... free-ish, I wish that the drama teacher could see that... I bet that heaps of my friends will get in and I'll be really sad when I don't... Helena's definitely going to get in because she is a soloist for choir so she sang on of her choir solos for the auditions... plus that the drama teacher asked her to sing more... she's definitely in! I don't think I am though... But at least I am in one drama group... and I'm the lead! That's gotta be worth something... right? The play for my other drama class I do is called "Snow White and the Other Seven Dwarves"... you can kinda guess what part I am... Lots of my friends are in my drama class as well,  Bella's the cleaning dwarf (with a Yorkshire accent!), Kimberley's Penny-ochio (girl version on Pinnochio) as well as Prince number 3 (I don't kiss her!), Georgia's the Floor Manager (Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to dwarf factor! You're in for a fun packed night tonight!) and Bridget is Doctor Dwarf (all your medical needs taken care of ;) ) My characters are Snow-White, Fairy Dwarf and 70's Dwarf.... I'm kinda worried about 70's dwarf though... Everyone says that Megan and Fiona (teachers) are planning to put me in an afro and have hippy clothes! Plus I have to do a dance routine... I wonder what song..... *shudder* For my fairy dwarf part I just have to walk on stage and walk off, which is easy enough... I just have to remember that I am number 997 (fairy dwarf) and number 1001 (70's dwarf) My costume for fairy dwarf is going to be a tutu or a very long dress and some platform shoes, I'm excited about all of my parts because they all have really cool costumes (I <3 costumes!) Last time I did a play for Act 1 drama class I was the nerd and for my costume I got to wear big harry potter glasses and have my hair curled... That was pretty cool... (It's fun wearing fake glasses!) I'm not sure what I'll look like in my snow white costume though... It's hard to tell... Maybe I'm going to be just normal with a dress on.... I'm not really sure... Megan and Fiona said my snow-white character wasn't as over the top as the other characters, which I sort of understand... Except I think my snow-white voice is pretty OTT how it is... I think we find out next wednesday - friday if we've got into starburst performers... Anyway... I think the internet working again... Bye byyyeeeee!
Wish me luck!

Konichiwa!

Konichiwa!
At school we have just recently started language classes. Most of my friends are in french class except Lily is in japanese as well so that's cool. At the beginning of each lesson we have to say, "Arigato gazimasu McNeil Sensei!" and bow, it's really funny and at the end we have to say, "Arigato gazimashda McNeil Sensei, Sayonara." It's really annoying cause everyone in the corridors is yelling out random japanese words and we're like, "Shut up!" It would be less annoying if it wasn't the word "Hello stranger" even though they're saying it to their friends... We also have to sing these really embarrassing songs the first song is called the Hai song which consists of "hai hai hai, ohayo gozaimasu, hai hai hai, konichiwa!" repeating again and again! I forgot how to spell the rest of the japanese but the song in english goes
VERSE 1:
"yes yes yes, good morning, yes yes yes, hello"
"yes yes yes, good morning, yes yes yes, hello"
VERSE 2:
"yes yes yes, give me chocolate, yes yes yes, thanks"
"yes yes yes, give me chocolate, yes yes yes, thanks"
VERSE 3:
"yes yes yes, good morning, yes yes yes, hello"
"yes yes yes, good morning, yes yes yes, hello"
x2
Those are the actual lyrics... no lie... There's also another one called "The song of Hiragana" about the japanese vowels (even worse) I tried not to make the japanese teacher offended by cracking up. I only just realised when my friend Rachel told me that her right hand is disabled so she keeps it in her pocket all the time.
THE SONG OF HIRAGANA:
a i u e o
ka ki ku ke ko
sa shi su se so
ma mi mu me mo

sa shi su se so
ta chi tsu te to
na ni nu ne no
ha hi fu he ho
ohh hiragana

(mind you this is sang by an adult man in a silly voice)

JAPANESE VOCAB I KNOW:
Rei: Bow
Chak seke: Sit
Kiri tsu: Stand
Ohayo gozaimasu: Good morning
Konichiwa: Good afternoon
Combangwa: Good evening
Sayonara: Good bye
Sumemasen: Sorry
Me: Eyes
Meme: Ears
Kuchi: Mouth
Te: Hands
Arigato gozaimasu: Thank you
Sensei: Teacher
Hon: Books
Hai: Yes

Well... that's all.... Sayonara!

My C.L.A.S.S. (crazy, laid back, attention seeking, strange, students)

List of everyone in our class and what I think of them...
"this should be interesting"
(If I've forgotten anyone it's probably because they're so invisible I don't even remember they're there...)
RaNdOm OrDeR

Niah:
He gets in trouble all the time, really annoying, has been to Mr. Crumptons office at least 3 times, I DON'T LIKE THIS PERSON VERY MUCH 8U

Quinn:
He's okay sometimes but he can be pretty annoying but not as annoying as before... Now that he has his precious origami hobby...

Leoden:
He's been away for so long I actually forgot he was in our class... Well... at least until Jessica pointed out that the giant shadow of him wasn't blocking the sun...

Astrid:
MAJOR prep... And I'm not even one of those emo people and I think so...
REASONS I CAN TELL:
1. Blonde hair
2. Always wears make up
3. Brings her cell phone to school always
4. Over use of words "like" and "totally" aswell as "omg"
5. Her accent is the accent

Helena:
Exchange student from Korea who can speak English fluently. She's pretty much good at everything... Soloist in more that 3 songs in choir, top math scores in class, really good at drawing, plays an instrument. 8U poohy... I wanna be good at lots of stuff...

Jessica G.:
Asian... Very VERY tall (taller than my mum) Is only just older than me (approximately 10 days) except she acts like she's way older than me and is always patting me on the head and squeezing my cheeks (OUCHIE!!!)

Raghav:
He thinks he's cool but he really isn't. He always tries really hard in hip hop classes except ends up looking constipated and when he jump he looks like he's humping the air... (He's one of those guys who sings micheal jackson songs like beat it and also justin beiber at drama group auditions...)

Scott:
I could swear Scott and Keryl were twins! I really could! ... except Scott's heads a smidgen smaller and he's tanned...

Keryl:
...Looks like Scott... except not tanned... He's pretty much average...

Symantha:
She doesn't really talk much in class and she's always hanging out with nora... Because of her culture or something she has to go to this other teacher person each week on thursday to do quizzes... the teacher says that it has to do with statistics on tests or something...

Savanna:
By now I've pretty much unveiled that she is a compulsive lier... Just by that fact that she's said to me stuff like that her mum has had a gun to her head twice, her dad almost killed, her mums house it haunted, her grandma has cancer, she's been lost before, the first words she spoke were Zulu and HEAPS of other stuff... But she can be fun to talk with aswell as a bit annoying at sometimes...

Nora:
She has a twin called Nadine who's in another class, Nadine is the girly one and Nora is the tom boy, she's always a bit rough and has a loud laugh except she's nice because she voted for me for my class captain speech (so did symantha)

Angel:
She's a kinda tom boy but she's awesome, the guys in our class have nicknamed her "boy-basher" cause she's always playing jokes on them.

Meg:
She's friends with everyone which is cool and she is pretty much normal... finally! Another normal person!

Michelle:
One of the goody goody's in my class, she always hangs out with Holly for everything she does and she's a top student at lots of things (but not as much as Holly.....)

Holly:
The HUGEST goody goody on the WHOLE PLANET. Holly - blonde hair - glasses - freckles - is good at.... top maths group, soloist in choir, top at sports, first place in cross country every time she runs, top reading group, top spelling group, top writing group,  has got more that 2 awards at R.I. already... Did I mention she also plays an instrument?
OMG DUDE

Lily:
One of my BF's =w= Always drawing and not really concentrating on her work, obsessed with ultimo (manga about robots) and www.deviantart.com (deeevvviiiaaannntttaarttt owo) says my work is good no matter how fail.
EPIC FRIEND OF WIN

Jessica:
Also one of my BF's. Is funny and cool sometimes but she has annoying mood swings heaps... Pretty much a short temper... She's obsessed with Death Note (best frikkin' anime evar!) and Mystery stories and has a phobia of people throwing up and a phobia of death. (I'm scared of death but I'm not as scared of puke as she does...)

Cooper:
Cooper is a show of know-it-all guy version except he's not that smart, he's kinda like Jessica G. cause he's taller than everyone but he doesn't pat heads or anything...

Alveen:
Pronounced Alvin (and the chipmunks!) He doesn't do much except he's funny, he thinks I'm some kinda retard and is always hanging out with Adam.

Adam:
Adam is sort of the limelight sorta guy. He's shorter than most people in our class and has braces. He was the star of our play for the camp concert (pretty much the only humorous guy) and is currently away from school because of a stomach bug (he threw up in class and Jessica escaped the room by taking the last corridor pass and going to the bathroom and staying there for a while - and I was stuck inside with no pass!!!)

Shelley:
Girly girl, is annoying sometimes, tries to be cool. EVERYONE IN MY CLASS HAS TO CUT HER SOME SLACK!

Tiger:
He's pretty much only known for his math skills...

Christopher:
Top in the class for maths and sits next to me. Is a kinda nerd but not really... I'm more nerdy tan him anyway... Except I didn't join chess club... He also does Mathex...

Mak:
He's just plain GROSS. He spends his whole life picking his nose or licking his hands and putting them in front of people and saying "the force" (I think he has a sort of problem cause he does it a recess to his friends as well...)

Bella:
She's been in my class last year and now that I think of it is a kinda prep... She has long blonde hair (it goes down to her butt if she unties it), always looks like she's got lip gloss on (but she hasn't) she used to dot her eyes with hearts and she writes in her school books with a different coloured pen every day, she's also a cheerleader. Gimme a B, Gimme a L, Gimme a O, Gimme a G, Gimme a G, Gimme a E, Gimme a R, Gimme a "spacebar!!!!", Gimme a R, Gimme a O, Gimme a C, Gimme a K, Gimme a S, WHAT'S THAT SPELL?! "BLOGGER"SPACEBAR"ROCKS!"

Isabelle Haines:
She's never in class and when she is she's just sitting around having freckles. She's also a cheerleader and  for some reason even though she is I find it hard to believe...

Kasheish:
Baaaccckkkground character... He is one of those people obsessed with math and he always plays handball and morning tea and lunchtimes along with a bunch of other people in our class (including Lily, Helena, Jessica G. and Christopher)

Olivia:
She's a tom boy... I don' know much about her though... (except for the fact that she got really mad when Jessica accidentally dropped her socks in the toilet when it was flushing and she had to put her hand in and pick it up - and Jessica's a hygiene freak even! ... hand-sanitiser and all...)

Chang Ho:
The new exchange student who we only met on Monday. He can't speak English and he has a translator (which is the same shape at my nintendo ds game console...) And when he tries to copy words from people he gets them really wrong, like when he tried to say "Helena" he said "Hallelujah" and the whole of my table burst into fits of laughter, he also has the same last name as Christopher.

I think that's everyone... I THINK.... I'm soo hungry right now.... I've probably forgotten like 12 but yeah... that's my class...

Yo!!! Hi!!!! whazz up?!!!!

At camp my new friend Helena from my new class, Room 15 thinks it is AMAZING that I can talk in chipmunk, Elmo is sooo flattered!!! :D Like... NO ONE in my WHOLE class has an email and it is like... annoying. I mean, who wants parents of their friends reading their private personal blog??? Not me... I know it's a bit late cause I'm in term 2 buuutt... I have to tell you guys about my new class and stuff... I'm in room 15, (I told u that b4), My teacher is Miss Laxon, and she is actually related to my music teacher at my old school Victoria avenue school! They are cousins! I did now expect that... I think I got the best teacher but the noisiest class! All of the teachers for our tech classes are like, shocked about how loud we are! I don't think the art teacher can handle it :P! Gotta go, Going somewhere, bye!

The big green roundish building thing that my friends all thou
ght was a farm is the meeting hall, to the south of that there is a car park and to the north-west there is the ropes course the flying squirrel (don't ask) the super fox and the mud confidence course.

THAT WAS THE WORLDS FASTEST E-TOUR
MISSING OUT HEAPS OF STUFFZ... MOVING ON...

,most of the activities were either high up or muddy... or both. A combination of my least favourite things!I am definitely NOT doing the super fox!!! (luckily my group didn't do that activity)Also when we were touring we saw lots of orienteering signs which were probably for the visual orienteering activity (my group is doing that on Thursday) after that it was lunchtime and me and my friend got lost, somehow we ende
d up at the dining hall and all the kids who went on Monday had sausages, Mr. Anderson saw us, embarrassing!!! Luckily we found our way back to the meeting hall for lunch. Then it was the first activity... The Mudslide. I was soooo scared to go on it and I had been dreading doing it for the past three days! When we were crossing the swing bridge we were only allowed ten people to go on it at a time, like... rope = snap, freaky! Everyone was jumping on it despite all the signs! When we were across we saw a HUGE slide...

TO BE CONTINUED!!!! (NO SERIOUSLY!!! I WON'T FORGET!!!!!) I'LL DO IT TOMORROW... I THINK... SEEYA!

My Name!!!

I know it's like..... TOTALLY lame... (well... not lame but... you know what I mean) boring and waaayyy tooo easy BUT on my old school blog, www.seniorvas.blogspot.com , there are I.C.T. tasks in the top right corner of the screen and I have nothing else to do sooo.... I decided to do them when new ones come because there are no computer classes at RI!!! And cause I have absolutely NOTHING else to do... anyway... here ya go! By the way, you're supposed to use the program Kidpix and save to the 'home directory' but I don't own 'Kidpix' or have an account on the server anymore so I didn't bother with that stuff and just drew a picture on 'Scratch' and took a screen shot (using command-shift-four) OBVIOUSLY the ICT teacher wanted to teach everyone how to take a screenshot... which is easy and I have known that for ages so umm... yeah... Anyway... here is my picture.

Okay that's a bit mean of me... they're not random as such their names are.... *drum roll* Ashley and Tom! (from a different school) The teachers for the drama class are Mrs Jennings and Mrs Flynn.
